The Integrated Unit for the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Diseases “Karellio”, in Chalandri, Attica, was visited today by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Mr. Ieronymos with the Deputy Minister of Health Mrs. Zoe Rapti where they met with beneficiaries of the structure and sat down to lunch with them.

The Archbishop Mr. Ieronymos and the Deputy Minister were welcomed by the General Director of the Charity Organization “APOSTOLI” of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, Mrs. Konstantinos Dimtsas, the Director of the Structure, Mrs. Katerina Efthymiopoulou and the medical, nursing and administrative staff of the Unit.

In his greeting, His Beatitude emphasized: “The Karelian Standard Alzheimer Center of “APOSTOLIS” and its excellent cooperation with the Ministry of Health is proof that Church and State can achieve optimal results for the benefit of people. The work carried out by the Deputy Minister, Mrs. Zoe Rapti, is absolutely creative and ranks our country in the first places in certain areas of mental health. Today Mrs. Rapti had the opportunity to see up close an excellent work of “APOSTOLIS”.

Deputy Minister Zoe Rapti underlined: “From the first years of his priesthood, Archbishop Hieronymos pioneered mental health projects in Boeotia. He is a pioneer. His work in this field is memorable and makes us all proud. Indeed, the cooperation with him and with our Church is an excellent example of what we can all achieve together. The meeting today with the elderly and the staff of the Unit shows the organized and excellent ministry of the “APOSTLE” to fellow human beings.
