On Maundy Thursday, the funeral of the publisher and businessman Giorgos Bombolas will take place, who passed away today at the age of 94, after 8 days of hospitalization.

George Bombolas was hospitalized after a hip fracture for which he underwent surgery on Friday, April 7, 2023. Due to the multiple organic problems, the patient was also hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital.

The funeral of Giorgos Bombolas will take place on Maundy Thursday at 1 pm. in the First Cemetery.

George Bobolas was born in 1928 in Piraeus, originally from Messinia and Laconia.
He studied civil engineering at the National Technical University of Athens.
He founded the construction company “Technodomi” with the later Minister of Public Works Evangelos Kouloubis as a key partner.
Its business activities focused on the construction, energy and media (MME) sectors, with two companies as its main vehicle:
* Ellactor, which arose after the merger of Aktor ATE and Hellenic Technodomiki SA in 1999.
* Pegasos Publishing House, which owned the television station Mega Channel (by 25%, until November 2019), the newspapers Ethnos and Imerisia (until 2017), as well as a number of websites and periodicals.
He also owned a percentage of the Casino of Parnitha, as well as percentages in Attiki Odos and the gold mines in Halkidiki.
