Occupancy on ships at pre-pandemic levels
Athenians and visitors leave the capital en masse to do Easter in the village, with good weather as an ally.
Since the morning of Holy Wednesday, the traffic on the two national roads leaving Athens has been constantly increasing, while since Holy Monday – when the departure of the excursions of Easter – a total of 108,301 vehicles have left Attica.
Specifically, on Holy Monday, 26,842 vehicles passed through the Athens-Corinthian exit, and on Holy Tuesday, 29,110. During the same days last year, 23,021 and 26,831 vehicles had left, respectively.
25,389 vehicles passed through the Athens-Lamia exit on Holy Monday and 26,960 on Holy Tuesday. During the same days last year, 23,4222 and 25,219 vehicles were gone, respectively.
Fullness at pre-pandemic levels on ships
There is also increased traffic in Piraeus and the other ports of Attica, from travelers who will spend Easter on an island.
This year the ferry traffic for the Easter holidays is expected to increase by 25% to 30% compared to 2022.
For example, from the port of Piraeus, for today, Wednesday 12/04, 14 itineraries have been scheduled, 29 for the Argosaronic islands, 11 from the port of Rafina and 8 from Lavrio.
From Palm Sunday 09/04 to yesterday, Tuesday 11/04, a total of 31,166 passengers left the port of Piraeus for various Aegean islands, while 10,098 passengers left for the Argosaronic islands.
During the same period, 7,492 passengers departed from the port of Rafina and 1,905 passengers from Lavrio.
