The administration of the Rethymnon hospital responds to the complaints of the former deputy minister of SYRIZA Pavlos Polakis about his mother, her waiting in the hospital but also the molecular test, stating in detail his own version of what is happening from the moment he arrived at the hospital.
The Rethymnon hospital reports that Mr. Polakis’s mother was treated like any other citizen and the health protocol was followed faithfully.
“If Mr. Polakis wants his family to be treated differently at the expense of other patients, we are sorry but such practices are not followed by the public hospitals of the Health District of Crete”, it is emphasized characteristically.

The chronicle according to the Rethymnon Hospital

Mr. Polakis’s mother arrived at 11:20 in the morning at the ICU where the examination rooms were occupied by critically ill patients, for quite some time.

At 2 in the afternoon he was called for an examination and did not arrive. The emergency room nurse telephoned the phone they gave, informed that the patient could come for examinations and the gentleman who answered on her behalf said that he would take her home because he was tired and that he would bring her back in the afternoon.

They were informed by the nurse that from the moment of leaving the ICU, the order of the incident is not maintained and later the wait can be long. There was no further communication with the patient.

At 5 in the afternoon, the Hospital Administration is informed by phone that Mr. Polakis’s mother is in the emergency room following a call from Mr. Polakis. The ICU doctor was informed in order to serve the patient like any other citizen. The patient was searched by the staff as she waited in a place outside the Hospital.

During the examination she was in good general condition, while she then voluntarily left the Hospital.

No prohibition on performing PCR test on a patient

The hospital also responds to the ban on conducting molecular tests on patients, stating that there has never been a ban by the Ministry of Health.

It is also clarified that the reference to performing pcr tests exclusively on patients in need of treatment, refers to patients with rapid rapid tests as drafted and signed by the Medical Service and the Administration of the General Hospital of Rethymnon.

“Any referral of a patient by the Hospital to a private structure was never made with a decision or approval of the Hospital Management”, the announcement states.
