The new incident of killing stray animals was reported to the Volos Philanthropic Group
Another horrific incident killing stray animals was reported to the Animal Welfare Group of Volos. A resident of the Chrysochoidis area informed a volunteer of the Group that inside a garbage bin, at the junction of Davaki – Papanikolaou streets, he heard the heartbreaking cry from newborn kittens. He remained there and immediately notified the Volos Fire Service.
The firefighters who went to the scene, uncaged from the binthrough a sack, four newborn kittens with the umbilical cord.
“Some two-legged “monster” did his “good deed” again…Unfortunately, once again we realize that we live in a society where not all lives have the same value…. The “man” who did it, had placed each kitten in a separate nylon bag and all the bags were inside the sack…”, said the members of the Animal Welfare Group, who informed the Volos Police Department about the incident.
Unfortunately, two of the four kittens were already dead. The other two kittens were delivered to a veterinary clinic, where an attempt was made to keep them alive.
“No matter how much we as an Association insist on convening the 5-member stray animal management committee of the Municipality of Volos, that there should be a sterilization program for stray cats, unfortunately the municipality probably considers them invisible and the sterilization of stray cats in our city is done only by private initiative…. while in most cities of the country there is a sterilization program”, note the volunteers of the Animal Welfare Group.
