The prosecution of the seven main defendants in the case of the private nursing home in Chania was recommended by the public prosecutor of Chania in the previous days, accusing them of serious criminal acts.

The public prosecutor charges them with the charges of directing, forming, participating and joining a criminal organization and of intentional homicide with possible malice, in a calm state of mind, committed by acts and omissions in a series, committed and attempted, by complicity, in the context established criminal organization.

The charge states that intentionally caused death food of the nursing home and how they had set up a criminal organization. In fact, reference is made to a total of 35 cases of elderly people who had passed through the structure.

The presentation describes the acts and omissions alleged to have been committed by the defendants. Among them, it is reported that they failed to provide them with food, water and consumables for their hygiene, while it is also attributed to them that they chemically fixed the food. They are also accused of placing urinary catheters and feeding devices in inmates who did not need them and of systematically omitting their transportation to hospitals.

In two cases the prosecutor asks for their discharge and in another he changes the charge to dangerous bodily harm.

Accused they are the two owners of the structure, a doctor and a psychiatrist and three employees. The first four remain in custody.

The procedure foresees that the judicial council will have to meet to determine the further steps, as it decides on the final referral or not to trial of the accused. This is expected to happen in the coming weeks, while the defense cannot rule out an appeal against the impeachment.
