EL.AS proceeded to arrest five people. in western Thessaloniki as they are accused of abducting and illegally detaining a foreigner whom they released after a relative of the victim paid a sum of 2,400 euros. After the complaint to the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki, about the abduction and illegal detention, police officers carried out an operation and identified the alleged perpetrators, whom the victim unreservedly identified. They are two nationals and three Pakistani nationals, aged 18 to 46, who, using physical violence, extorted and demanded money from their victim, a Tunisian citizen, through his relatives, in order to transport him inside the country. with a final destination country of Western Europe.

Two of the alleged perpetrators worked in a remittance company and knowing the purpose of the deposit-sending of the money by relatives of the victim, they registered different sending times and different recipient details in order to hide their true identity. From the police search of the house, two rods (metal and wooden) were found and confiscated. The relevant receipts of the transactions and video material were confiscated from the company for further investigation.

A case file was filed against the arrested persons for the individual offenses of illegal transportation-promotion of immigrants within the country, kidnapping, extortion, establishment of a criminal organization and illegal money laundering and they will be taken to the public prosecutor.
