On 9 May 2023, Europe Day, the Representation of the European Commission in Greece in collaboration with the Office of the European Parliament is organizing an event in Athens, at the Athens Conservatory (13:00-18:00), entitled “Europe Day 2023 — Celebrating the European Year of Skills’ and invites you to participate! We celebrate peace, unity and cooperation in Europe, as well as the European principles and values ​​that unite us in the European Union.

This year Europe Day also marks the start of the European Year of Skills.

The event includes a skills dialogue with young people from Vocational and General High Schools, Vocational Training Institutes, Universities and start-ups and will focus on the skills needed in various sectors of the economy and in particular those that are important in the context of the green and digital transition, with an emphasis on youth employment. It will be followed by round table discussions with representatives of European institutions and national bodies active in the fields of skills.

The keynote speaker will be the Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr. Margaritis Schinas, who will also participate in the skills festival organized by the European Commission, with live links from Brussels (skills events will take place on May 9 across Europe).

Throughout the event there will be booths with information material from embassies of the member states of the European Union and the countries of the European Economic Area, from European bodies and networks as well as from national public bodies.

Europe Day in Thessaloniki

The visit of the Vice-President of the European Commission Mr. Margaritis Schinas to Greece includes his participation in actions to celebrate Europe Day in Thessaloniki as well. On Monday, May 8, Mr. Schinas will attend the event of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Eastern Thessaloniki at the Olympic Museum and then he will go to EPAL Evosmou where he will participate in the event of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Western Thessaloniki. The events for May 9th are attended by students and teachers from the local schools.
