It is noted that in this direction, a special operational plan has been drawn up by the Hellenic Police Headquarters, while at the same time special police actions are being implemented with the aim of dealing with the phenomenon of animal abuse.

In this context, in the first quarter of 2023 (January – April), a total of 705 case files related to incidents of animal abuse and a total of 138 people were arrestedwhile they were confirmed 659 fines the total amount of which amounts to 3,317,800 euros.

It is pointed out that “the Hellenic Police, within the framework of its duties and responsibilities and in cooperation with the other co-competent bodies, will continue with undiminished intensity the implementation of specialized actions and initiatives, which will contribute decisively to dealing with the negative phenomenon of animal abuse, but also at the same time informing citizens about the rights of animals, but also the obligations of their owners”.
