“I saw Elk beaten, he was covered in blood, I say where I am, I was scared”, said the fourth accused in his testimony murder of Alkis Kampanos and the wounding of his two friends in the early hours of February 1, 2022 in the area of ​​Harilaou, in Thessaloniki.

Starting his apology, the 21-year-old asked for a humble and sincere apology, while expressing his deepest condolences from the depths of his soul, as he said.

“I come from a family that grew up right, my parents came from Albania 25 years ago. I finished school in Thessaloniki. I wanted to major in cars, I played football. I wasn’t a hooligan, I was just a fan,” the fourth defendant initially said.

He testified that he started going to the PAOK club during the corona virus period and that due to his financial ability he could not go anywhere else.

Referring to the fateful night, the fourth accused stated that the decision was made by everyone “to make two or three rounds in Harilaou, in case we find fans of Aris to argue with. It was my first time. I had heard that ours had been hunted before. I didn’t know what I was going to face.”

The 21-year-old added that he had a 15cm torch with him which he was playing with and took with him to the incident.

As he testified, they got off the first car in Plastira with A.G. and O.T. they saw Alkis and his company from afar. “They were dressed in black, we said to ask them a question. A.G. he asked them “what team are you” and they answered “Mars hey p…”. He pointed out that almost at the same time all three occupants of the Polo that had turned onto Th. Gazi arrived at the scene.

“They were standing. They probably realized we were fans of another team. A.G. he went through the gate and one of Alki’s friends hit him with his helmet. I saw GK hitting DK with the sickle. and A.G. took out a knife and hit A.B. I chased K,” said the 21-year-old, continuing his apology.

“As I was running, I saw some people coming towards us threateningly, I turned back to call A.G. and I told him ‘let’s go’, he then added.

“We wanted to impose ourselves as a team. At that moment I decided to chase the one”, he said.

“I was scheduled to leave for Albania”

The fourth defendant fled to Albania after the incident. As he testified before the court today, he was scheduled to leave. In fact, he emphasized that there he confessed to his parents about his involvement in the incident, they consulted a lawyer and decided to first hand himself over to the Albanian authorities and then return to Greece.

“After the incident I went home scared and went to my room, I didn’t talk to my mother. I did not have the courage to tell my father about such a terrible incident. I was scheduled to go to Albania to visit my grandmother. They saw me being embarrassed and telling my parents that I broke up with my girlfriend. My father advised me to surrender. After some days I surrendered to the Albanian authorities. I went to the border and surrendered. I knew that the others had been remanded in custody,” noted the 21-year-old.

With the deposition of the fourth accused in the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki, the apologies of the occupants of the first car were completed.

The trial is expected to continue tomorrow.
