Against 60 – 80 euros for each case – Accused of bribery of an employee and ongoing forgery, as well as breach of duty – In addition, a case file was filed against 30 paid persons for bribing an employee
He was arrested by virtue of a warrant, hospital employee of Attica, accused of bribery of an employee and subsequent forgery, as well as breach of duty.
As announced, the hospital employee was handcuffed by the Security Forces Internal Affairs Service on Tuesday morning (9/5) by the Security Forces Internal Affairs Service.
For the investigation of the case, information was used, according to which a hospital employee issued and granted fake health certificates to issued women for a sum of money, without them taking the prescribed and necessary medical examinations.
How was he acting?
As emerged from the investigation, the employee in question, with responsibility for the processing and analysis of the blood samples taken from examinees and having access to the official documents and records of his Service, completed and issued medical certificates, without, in most cases, having performed the prescribed medical examinations for sexually transmitted diseases and other infectious diseases, with which (certificates) he then supplied the women concerned.
In particular, after issuing results for tests that he was responsible for, but also tests that were not his responsibility, he would proceed with their certification – validation, signing himself in the name of the competent doctor and putting a fake round seal of the hospital on them.
In this way, he bypassed the prescribed procedure, according to which the results of the examinations should be checked – considered by a doctor and then the relevant certificates should be granted to the interested parties by the Hospital’s secretariat.
Over 100 fake health certificates
The arrested person, mainly from the beginning of 2023, acted in the above-mentioned manner in at least one hundred and one (101) identified cases – certificates, from various regions of the country, with the aim of obtaining illegal income, while for each case he received the sum of 60-80 euros.
From the searches carried out in his office and home, an electronic computer, a laptop, a mobile phone, 4 medical tests and 2 fake stamps were found and confiscated.
The arrested person will be taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
