The bad weather “Diomidis” caused huge problems. In Thessaly, rivers swelled, flooding homes and causing extensive power outages.

During the night, in the Koskina area of Karditsa, he broke the dam of the river Kalentzis, and threatened the settlements of Koskina and Psathochori, while at least 50 people had to be transported to the closed gym in Palamas, Karditsa for precautionary reasons.

However, at the moment the inhabitants of the two settlements are returning to their homes.

The mayor of Palamas Mr. George Sakellariou, speaking at KarditsaLive.Net, He stressed that the flow of water continues but now the danger for the settlements has disappeared, as the level has decreased significantly. The worst for the two local communities passed without, fortunately, any problems in the houses. Some of the residents were hosted at the Indoor Gym of Palamas and their movement to their homes has already begun.

Psathochora has a water outage and a DEYAP workshop is at the scene to repair the damage.

The problem now, noted Mr. Sakellariou, is located in the area of Gorgovites from the overflow of Lipsimos. The settlement is surrounded by flooded fields and herds. The water, he added, has entered the yards of some houses and we are ready to break part of the road to relieve the pressure. At this point he clarified that if a road section is broken, it will be from the road that connects the settlement with the industrial area.

Finally, the road Vlochos-Ag. Dimitrios and will be estimated in the next few hours when it will open.
