Golden Dawn: Lagos and Popori remain in prison

by

The five-member Court of Appeals of Suspensions rejected as inadmissible the second application for release from prison of the convict as a member of the management team of the criminal organization “Golden Dawn” Ioannis Lagou.

The MEP, who has been sentenced to 13 years and 8 months in prison, was absent from court and was represented by his lawyer Konstantinos Plevris. The convict’s request was not considered on the merits, as the court ruled that the conditions of the law were not met in order to discuss a new application, as, as the Prosecutor’s Office pointed out, the two-month period between the two applications has not been observed. submitted by the detainee. Thus the request of the Golden Dawn executive was rejected as formally inadmissible.

The decision of the court was also rejected in the request for suspension of the sentence that he submitted, for the third time, and the former police officer Venice Popori, who was sentenced to 7 years and 7 months as a member of the criminal organization.

The court, with a majority of 4 to 1, denied that the health problems, as well as the financial ones, invoked by the lawyer of the detainee, constitute “excessive damage”. The prosecutor’s proposal was also negative in the application.
