A strange case fraud with a female victim, occupied the Three-member Criminal Court of Larisa yesterday. In the dock was a retired teacher who was accused of offense of fraud together with caused damage of more than 120,000 euros.

With her in the dock would have been, if she had been alive, another one who pretended to be a businessman with the “blessing” of Saint Paisios.

With this “qualification” the defendants managed to “grab” in 2016 from the woman in Larissa, property that in total exceeded 120,000 euros in exchange for the accused to “solve” the alleged sorcery performed on her by her husband.

As it became known during the hearing and from the testimony of the patient herself, everything started in 2011 when he met the accused with whom they lived in the same neighborhood and had mutual acquaintances in their family environment.

The defendant also introduced her partner, who, as she introduced him to the patient and her husband, was businessman from Germany with a special “gift”. He had “metaphysical” powers because he had the “blessing” of Saint Paisios and could with these “powers” solve magic and heal the sick. Actually, the man was not a businessman in Germany, but former cook who was convicted in the late 90s of murdering a man. However, with his “false” identity, together with the accused, they managed to gain the couple’s trust and when the opportunity presented itself, to “seize”, according to the indictment, the woman’s property.

Sorcery and deception

The defendants knew about the couple’s strained relationship and used this evidence to their advantage. As the victim testified, the defendants began to “put words” to her about her husband and when she faced a serious health problem in the fall of 2016, their plan was put into action. They claimed that the problem arose from the witchcraft performed by her husband and to help her, they asked the sufferer to light candles and candles to purify the house and to take all her money and gold to their house to ” purify” the accused and thus “break” the magic. The sufferer did so, giving $40,000 and gold the value of which exceeded 100 thousand euros.

Later when she asked for them back and the defendants gave her various excuses, she knew something was wrong. This concern was confirmed when she discovered the real name of the accused and then the threats against her started to prevent her from going to the authorities. The case finally took the legal route with the money and jewelry still not being returned to the victim, as she testified in court yesterday.

As “fiction” the defendant described what the victim testified and denied all the accusations against her. He pointed out that the accused was responsible for “grabbing” the property and called the sufferer a “spider woman”. She also mentioned the difficulties and constant bullying she faced from the victim when the fraud was revealed.

However, the district attorney in his admonition stated that “the transfer of the property is not disputed” and emphasized that “there was collusion between the two defendants” to “get their hands on the victim’s property”, ultimately suggesting the defendant’s guilt.

The court in turn found the accused guilty and sentenced her to prisonof three years with a three-year suspension, recognizing her and the mitigating factor of the previous conjugal life.
