Those who owe EFKA can until May 31 pay part of the contributions to continue to have medical coverage
The deadline for tens of thousands of self-employed professionals, self-employed and farmers with debts to EFKA to cover themselves and their family members with medical care benefits expires on May 31.
However, those who owe EFKA can pay part of the contributions until May 31 in order to continue to have medical coverage.
With a provision passed shortly before Parliament closed for the elections, it is foreseen the possibility of paying an amount corresponding to the annual contributions for 2022, only for the health sector, of the insurance class chosen by the insured, in order to renew their insurance capacity up to on February 29, 2024. In other words, if a self-employed person pays the amount corresponding to the annual health contribution – cumulatively for the year 2022 – his insurance capacity will be renewed until February 29, 2024, even if he has other insurance debts.
As long as this does not happen, the directly insured person as well as his family members who are indirectly insured in EFKA and EOPYY, will be left without health benefits, i.e. without free access to public medical care.
