“Diomidis” – Central and Western Macedonia: Where anti-skid chains are needed

Traffic is carried out with anti-skid chains in a part of the road network of Central and Western Macedonia, due to the low temperatures and the snowfall of the previous days.

Especially in Imathia, the anti-skid chains are necessary in the road network to the ski centers Seli and 3-5 Pigadia and from the 85th to the 98th kilometer of the old national road Veria-Kozani (via Kastania).

In Kilkis, chains are needed on the provincial road Goumenissa – Livadia, in Pella on the road to the ski resort of Vorra and in Pieria to the ski resort of Elatochori.

In Halkidiki, the traffic is made with chains from the 70th to the 72nd kilometer of the national road Thessaloniki – Ierissos and from the 70th to the 85th kilometer of the old national road Thessaloniki – Ierissos (via Taxiarchi). Also, anti-skid chains are needed on the provincial road Varvaras-Olympiada and inside the municipal district Taxiarchis.

In Grevena the traffic is carried out with chains on the provincial roads Grevena – Samarina – Vasilitsa and Grevena – Ziaka – Perivoliou – Avdela.

In Kastoria on the provincial roads Kastoria – Ioannina (via Nestori) and Kastoria – Florina (via Vitsi), as well as the entire mountain road network of the municipality of Argos Orestiko.

In Florina, anti-skid chains are necessary on the national road Florina – Krystallopigi Border Station (via Vigla), from the 6th km to the 29th km, on the provincial and municipal road network of the municipality of Florina and on the provincial road Aetou – Nyua.

The temporary ban on the traffic of all trucks with a gross weight over 12 tons is in force on the national road Florina – Krystallopigi border station, from the 6th km to the 29th kilometer, while on the municipal road Ano Idrousa-Nymfaio the traffic is temporarily suspended. .
