A criminal organization, which was active in the trafficking of smuggled tobacco products, was dismantled by the Economic Police Sub-Directorate of Northern Greece.
As part of a coordinated police operation, which took place in an area of Thessaloniki, three people were arrested, accused of criminal organization and violation of the legislation on the national customs code and were referred to apologize to the special investigator.
According to the investigation, the members of the organization, since the beginning of last November, have been active in the possession and trafficking of smuggled tobacco products, in order to obtain illegal property gain.
The quantities of smuggled tobacco products were kept in a warehouse in an area of Thessaloniki, while for their transportation they used a refrigerated truck, equipped with appropriate documents, in order to give legality to the routes.
During police searches, they found and confiscated: 30,000 packs of tobacco of 50 grams of various brands that did not bear the excise tax tape, refrigerator truck, 2,455 euros and a number of documents.
It is noted that the evading duties and taxes are estimated at at least 325,000 euros.
