Stunned dozens of tourists watched buckets in the arrivals and departures halls as the building’s ceiling dripped
A sudden shower last Sunday in Rhodes it caused dozens of problems on roads and buildings.
Images from airport of the island that welcomes hundreds of tourists every day, show the extent of the chaos that prevailed after the heavy rain.
The employees had placed buckets inside the building that houses the airport which was flooded while they tried to remove the water with brooms.
The beaches were empty within minutes, while tourists scurried through the rain to get back to their hotels or anywhere else that wouldn’t get wet.
The problems were identified on central roads in the city of Rhodes, on the Rhodes-Lindos and Rhodes-Kamiros road network, but mainly on the road outside the airport, which turned into a river, causing problems for drivers to move from that point.
A lot outdoor tourism businesses and shops also faced problems due to the rain in Rhodes, Lindos, Faliraki, Ialyssos and other areas where the owners were almost forced to stop their operations until the rain stopped.
