The five police officers – border guards who were arrested by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces of Northern Greece will be brought before the prosecutor today, Tuesday, in Evroin the context of a police operation carried out on Monday, accused of facilitating the entry into the country of irregular immigrants from Turkey, through contacts they had with circuit from the neighboring country.

As announced by the Ministry of Citizen Protection, from the investigation so far, it emerged that the police officers, at least since October 2022, coming into contact with circles operating in Turkey, allegedly committed acts or omissions, aimed at ease of entry in our country of citizens of third countries.
From the combined analysis of the material gathered, it emerged that the defendants facilitated the illegal entry into Greek territory of an unknown number of citizens of third countries in at least 12 cases, turning a “blind eye” when they received a signal from the members of the ring for such movements.
It is recalled that as part of the investigation, the phones of the police officers were monitored, but, according to information from EL.AS, the records did not reveal the fees they received for these “services”.
However, from the searches carried out in their homes, significant sums of money in various currencies and other persuasions were found and confiscated, namely:
– 26,550 euros,
– 59 mobile phones,
– 12 power banks,
– 2,120 US dollars,
– 850 Turkish liras,
– 23 British pounds,
– 77 Romanian Lei,
– many banknotes from Asian countries and
– bank card.
