The homicide of a 50-year-old citizen, committed in September 2022 in Athens, was investigated by the Crimes Against Life Department of the Attica Security Directorate.

After a long-term and systematic investigation by the above Service and after a combined evaluation of evidence and information, a 29-year-old citizen was identified as the perpetrator of the murder.

The above was found yesterday afternoon (29/5) in Porto Rafti, after intensive searches by an operational police team that was set up to locate the perpetrator and he was arrested following a relevant warrant.

The timeline of the case

Regarding the timeline of the case, in the morning hours of September 24, 2022, the 50-year-old was found by a passer-by, lying on the road covered in blood in the Athens area.

Subsequently, he was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he died.

From the investigation carried out, it emerged that the 29-year-old together with another person, after arguing with the victim, managed to hit him in the face with his hand, causing the victim to lose his balance and fall on the road.

The two persons then escaped on a two-wheeler belonging to the accused.

From the forensic examination carried out, it was established that the death of the 50-year-old was the result of a severe head injury caused by a thlon and a blunt instrument.

The arrested person is taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
