People walk in a line, one behind the other, about to enter a completely dark environment. There, they’ll do what normally requires good lighting or, at the very least, candlelight: dinner. The experience is offered in a new house in São Paulo, Espaço Dive (diving, in English).

The meal is served by visually impaired waiters. Customers do not use sales. They eat everything in the dark anyway —couvert, starter, main course and dessert. Juice or wine accompany the dishes prepared by chef Adilson Garcia.

You have to grope the table when you arrive, to locate the cutlery, plates and glasses. Careful not to spill anything on your clothes. As a precaution, the establishment provides an apron for each visitor.

After making sure that the food is over, just push the plate forward and wait for the next one. The tables are not arranged in a conventional way, as in a restaurant, but in a strategic way to facilitate the service of the waiters.

While eating, the public listens to live music, with national and international repertoire. Those who sing are the same employees who serve the food.

The experience starts at R$ 315. The next dinner will be held this Friday (2nd), but tickets are already sold out.

On June 10, the house will open Boteco Cego, with traditional snacks from various regions of Brazil, as well as different types of beer and samba to create a bar atmosphere.

The meetings are coordinated by the company C3 Projetos Culturais, which, in addition to these two events, also promotes Teatro Cego, in which the play is staged in total darkness and the audience needs to sharpen their other senses, such as smell and hearing, to understand what is happening. is happening.

These initiatives, which previously took place sporadically and without a definite location, will now have Espaço Dive as their fixed address. The house will receive the experiences fortnightly, alternately. Tickets must be purchased at least two days in advance on the Sympla platform.
