The municipal authority is already proceeding with the radical reconstruction of the Tavros refugee quarter, with a budget project of 4,831,484.78 million euros and with funding from the “Antonis Tritsis” program. The intervention is spread over an area, provides for a bioclimatic upgrade of the common areas, environmental protection and aesthetic enhancement of the area, with the aim of its general upgrade.
Among other things, the reconstruction in the refugee camps includes:
– Creation of a common rest area, with a canopy and a section for events, energy benches and other modern urban equipment (area 1,480.71 m2).
– Creation of an outdoor exercise area with the installation of exercise equipment (area 1,598 sq m).
– New playground with special flooring and modern equipment with certified products that meet European health and safety standards (area 1,013.62 m2).
– Traffic corridors, both around the perimeter and inside the area (area 394.75 m2).
– Space configuration for full and safe access for the disabled.
– Installation of low-consumption led technology lighting.
– Supply of plant and irrigation network with certified state-of-the-art materials, as well as operation of new fountains.
– Reinforcement of greenery with flowering trees and shrubs endemic to the area and resistant to the prevailing weather conditions (area 14,177.95 m2).
– Configurations of Attaleia and Panagitsa squares.
The materials used for the renovation are natural and cool, they do not reflect heat and light and contribute to the reduction of the surface temperature of the space, thus forming a favorable microclimate. Thus, the environmental conditions created have a positive effect on the energy efficiency of neighboring buildings.
“Responding to the request of the residents and the society of Tavros, we worked methodically, submitted studies, requested and succeeded in funding the project of the reconstruction of the refugee area in Tavros”, said the mayor of Moschato-Tavros Andreas Efthimiou, among others, and added: ” This is an intervention that aims to create a natural recreation and relaxation area for residents and children, with outdoor exercise equipment, a modern playground, fountains and event spaces. We ensured the access of the disabled and strengthened the environmental footprint of the area, in order to upgrade it environmentally and aesthetically”.
