The operation of the country’s courts is suspended nationwide by Wednesday, June 21 through Wednesday, June 28, due to the parliamentary elections of June 25, 2023, while the operation of salaried mortgage registrars is suspended only on Friday, June 23 and Monday, June 26, 2023.

Specifically, with a circular issued by the Acting Minister of Justice Philippa Spyropoulos, in view of the parliamentary elections of June 25, 2023, the work of the country’s courts is suspended from Wednesday, June 21, 2023 until Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

In particular, in the circular, in addition to the suspension time of the courts, the following are mentioned:

“Criminal trials that will begin in court before the date of commencement of the suspension and will not be concluded on the same day shall continue after the date of termination of the suspension.

“Exempt from the suspension is the case of trial of felonies or misdemeanors of minors which, if committed by an adult, would be a felony, in cases where the maximum limit of temporary detention of the accused is about to expire. When there is a risk of statute of limitations, the competent Prosecutors redefine the cases in the shortest possible trial after the end of the suspension.

“Issues of the operation of the courts regarding the spontaneous procedure and the procedure of injunctive measures in particular, will be regulated by individual decisions of the administrations of the relevant courts.

“The operation of salaried mortgage repositories is suspended only on Friday, June 23 and Monday, June 26, 2023.”
