A charity basketball match was held on June 9 at the indoor basketball court of AEK, between the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (EAB) and Lockheed Martin to support the association of parents of children with neoplastic disease “Flag”. The association “Floga” deals with upgrading the quality of care for young cancer patients. With the slogan “Three points in life” the basketball teams of EAB and Lockheed Martin Aero faced off on the floor of the AEK stadium with the first team emerging as the winner.

As announced today by EAB, a second basketball match followed between the Veteran Basketball Players Association of AEK and the team of the historic Amyntas. The chairman of the Board of Directors of EAB Vice Admiral (M) e.a. Ioannis Koutras, congratulated the president of “Floga” Maria Tryfonidou for her important social work as well as all those who contributed to the organization.

“It is certain that the “Flame” will continue to illuminate and warm children with neoplastic disease throughout the country. What you “Flame” guys are doing is true championship in the fight for life. I want to thank you personally and know that we will always be close to you throughout this effort” said Ioannis Koutras, among others.

Lockheed Martin Aero Hellenic Operations Manager at the Hellenic Aerospace Industry Charles Akers said: “Thank you for joining us for this special night of basketball and charity. The Lockheed Martin team is proud to participate in this donation to the ‘Flame.”

The president of the “Floga” club, Maria Tryfonidou, thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of this charity event, while the children of “Floga” in turn offered commemorative gifts to the players of the two teams. The event was honored with the presence of officials from the Ministry of National Defense, employees of EAB and Lockheed Martin Aero with their families, friends of “Flagas” and friends of basketball.
