A very nice tribute was created by the students of the fifth grade of the 1st primary school in Aspropyrgos, on the occasion of the completion of 120 years since the foundation of their school.
With the help of their teachers, they made this wonderful video interviewing their grandparents who attended the same school.

The history of the 1st Primary School of Aspropyrgos
In the monthly newspaper of the “Athina” Educational Association, October 1957 page number 4, the article of the Principal of the 1st Primary School, Stella Pantelopoulos, was published entitled: “The History of the 1st Primary School of Aspropyrgos”.
In it he stated:
“As informed by older residents of Aspropyrgos, now ninety years old, the 1st Primary School of Aspropyrgos was founded and built in 1903 at the expense of the national philanthropist Andreos Syngros and during the prime ministership of Ralli. Three spacious rooms, the office and the entrance were then built. In the northern part, it had a precinct with a wall and a shed where the students took refuge in bad weather, as well as etc. necessary. There were also some almonds, but no water, because the village was dry, as there is still a shortage today.
Its operation began in 1904 as a second grade with teachers, Mandravillian Evangelon and Polychronos Konstantinos up to the fourth grade because there was also a Greek school at that time. According to information, the above teachers were paid by the Demon until the year 1906, maybe even later.
Tritaxion started operating from the year 1918-1919, as I verified from the preserved Archive. During the year 1923, when I was separated, it functioned as a three-class men’s class and remained so until 1928, when it was joined after the girls’ class into a six-class mixed class by virtue of Pr. Decree of 2-24-1928, published in the F.E.K. of 29/3-1928.
The expansion of the building took place in the year 1930-1931, where two more halls were added to the right and left of the existing ones. State expenses of Dr. 150,000 were allocated to Minister Papandreou and the rest were covered by the Community of Aspropyrgos. During this year he founded the 2nd Aspropyrgos and thus by Dem. The school it was named after was renamed 1 Aspropyrgos. Then, from the donations of the residents in plots, the precinct was expanded to what it is today. During the year 1938-1939, another hall was added at the expense of the community of Aspropyrgos.
With the extension of the precinct, a systematic garden was established with various ornamental trees, citrus, pericoclades and others. Various flowers were also cultivated as well as nurseries with various plants, which the students looked after and cared for. These plants, when the time came, were distributed to the students to be planted in their gardens and yards. There was also a student library with several books, where the students of the school on a certain day and time under the supervision of the teachers studied at the school and made their announcements at a certain time.
It also had a cinema in operation with a variety of educational films, but unfortunately they were all destroyed during the occupation period, as well as the doctorate. Every staff member of the school, as well as its directors, worked diligently, with zeal and diligence and took care and are taking care of the general good appearance of both the curriculum and its food.
Most of the school’s materials as well as its supervisory tools have been bought mostly with the money from the various holidays, lottery purchases, etc. Finally, if the school is repaired and the grounds are closed, the school garden will be reopened, as it should be and as befits a full six-grade school. Still, efforts are being made to establish a student library and, above all, children’s short stories “of life” and other groups.
