The defense attorney resigned after the additional charges against the 32-year-old man for manslaughter and for the rape of the 27-year-old woman.

Next, I would like to thank all those who honored me in my ex officio appointment to appear on behalf of the accused, in the investigative process, for the charge of robbery, I hereby inform the media to forgive me if I appeared rude with my attitude, I never had such a purpose, but it was impossible to provide them with any additional information, don’t forget the accusation was a robbery) regarding the facts and the evidence, since the primary and most important of all is the essential finding of the truth and the presumption of innocence.

In order to avoid false impressions and in accordance with the interpretation of the provisions of the Code of Lawyers, every defendant, regardless of the seriousness of the offense he is considered to have committed, has the right to a defense, which constitutes a sample of legal culture. The lawyer is an officer of Justice and must serve it. In the exercise of his profession he must be and feel independent. In his general professional action and social coexistence, he must avoid anything that harms his prestige and dignity, which are conferred and imposed on him by his mission in the justice system and his role in society.

I sympathize with the family, as does the entire Greek society, especially in such a small place as our island. I do not accept my ex officio appointment as regards the part of the newly instituted criminal prosecution on charges of homicide and rape.
