The arrest of a 44-year-old man who committed thefts of luxury cars and then sold them to stables, the Attica police department announced yesterday afternoon.

The 44-year-old, who is considered a member of a criminal organization, was arrested yesterday Friday afternoon at Doveby police officers of the Property Crimes Department of the Attica Security Directorate.

The policemen they tracked it downwhen they spotted a vehicle in the area of ​​Peristeri, which it had been stolen from Germany and put it under surveillance.

As found, the vehicle had been put up for sale in a car dealership, where the 44-year-old owner was found and taken to the headquarters of the aforementioned service, where he was arrested.

From the investigation, it emerged that it is about transnational criminal organizationwhich for at least the last two months has been active in the theft of luxury cars in Germany and Greece.

According to the police announcement, the members of the organization during the evening and early morning hours were locating parked luxury vehiclessometimes and in airport parking lotsth, they would break the doors and put them into operation with special equipment to disable their security systems (alarms, immobilizer) and remove them.

After the lapse of some days, they transferred them to France and Greece in order to make them available for further sale, thereby reaping great financial benefits.

The 44-year-old as a member of the criminal organization, he received the above vehicles and forged their identification numbers, making them legal and offering them for sale to unsuspecting buyers.

Three cases of vehicle thefts from Germany were solved.

Since the investigation so far the total value of the removed vehicles exceeds the 220,000 euros.

In his possession, inside his car dealership, as well as in the surrounding area, among other things, were found and confiscated:

  • 6- cars,
  • 3- car keys, including the one that started the aforementioned stolen vehicle,
  • 61- license plates of Greek and European Authorities of doubtful authenticity,
  • the amount of -1,970- euros,
  • mobile phone and
  • 2- driving licenses of third parties.

It is noted that the accused has concerned the authorities in the past for similar offences.

The arrested person was taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
