Ford’s iconic MustangĀ® brand further extends its legendary footprint with the official debut of the Mustang GT4 at the Crowd Strike 24 Hours of Spa at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in eastern Belgium.

The Mustang GT4 is Ford’s latest offering in motorsport, dubbed ‘Ford vs. Everyoneā€ by Jim Farley, Ford chairman and CEO. The Mustang GT4, like its “sister” Mustang GT3, is based on the all-new Mustang Dark Horseā„¢ 2024. With its unveiling, Ford officially continues its uninterrupted tenure in the SRO-established GT4 class, which was first introduced in 2017.

Like the Mustang GT3, it features a bold and colorful racing livery, which for the occasion is an adaptation of the counterparts created by Troy Lee Designs on behalf of the Mustang GT3 and SuperVan 4.2. Troy Lee is recognized as one of the leading motorsport racing enclosure designers worldwide.

“The Mustang GT4 is a key member of our motorsports offerings,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports. ā€œPositioning it between the Mustang GT3 and the soon-to-be introduced Mustang Dark Horse R, it keeps the brand competitive at all levels of on-track performance and is an important part of our customer racing program. With this new version, based on the new seventh-generation Dark Horse model, we have upgraded our presence and are ready to challenge our competitors worldwide.ā€

The introduction of the 2022 Mustang Dark Horse heralded the launch of an expanded family of racing Mustangs that debuted this year. This includes the new Mustang GT4, the recently revealed Mustang GT3, as well as the upcoming Mustang Dark Horse R, and many more suggestions. All will strengthen Mustang’s position as Ford’s most successful name in racing and on legendary tracks around the world – from Daytona to Bathurst – with a presence at track days from privateers to professional-level GT racing. Mustang will literally race everywhere.

With the new Mustang GT4, Ford Performance further expands its solid partnership with Multimatic, which will build every single one. The Mustang GT4 racing V8 units, which are based on the Ford Coyote engine, were developed in-house by Ford Performance and will be assembled by Ford in Dearborn, Michigan.

“We’re proud to work with so many great partners in our race-specific programs,” said Christian Hertrich, Motorsports powertrain manager, Ford Performance. ā€œIt’s also special to be able to do all the engine work on the Mustang GT4 completely in-house. We have a great team and I’m excited for Mustang fans to see the Mustang GT4 in action.ā€

The racing Mustang GT4 also features Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers, a Holinger dog-ring transmission, pneumatically actuated shift paddles, natural fiber body panels, and a unique aerodynamic package developed to meet the goals of the GT4 class .
