The presentation of the play depicts the peaceful life of the Greeks in Asia Minor before the disaster, the tragic images of their violent and bloody persecution and their settlement under dramatic conditions in Greece
At the Greek Cultural Center “Thespis”, in New York, the performance of the theater group of the Lyceum of the College of Athens, “Koinos logos”, is presented today, as part of the commemorative events for the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor disaster, organized by the Archdiocese America.
The presentation of the play captures the peaceful life of the Greeks in Asia Minor before the disaster, the tragic images of their violent and bloody persecution and their settlement under dramatic conditions in Greece.
Through their words, songs and dances, the viewer can discover the inner thoughts and feelings of the refugees of that time, our refugees, but also the refugees of today.
The performance, which is under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Hellenism Abroad and Public Diplomacy, will be honored with their presence by Archbishop of America Elpidophoros and the president-director of the Athens College, academician and professor Kostas Synolakis.
The play, which will be presented on July 7 at the Malliote Cultural Center in Boston, is written by Elli Papadimitriou, while the direction is by Angeliki Girginoudis.
