In confirming 405 violations, out of a total of 696 checks, police officers of the Thessaloniki Traffic Sub-Directorate and the Traffic Accident Control and Prevention Group (OTPETA) of the competent department in the city proceeded in a 48-hour period, as stated in today’s relevant announcement .

Specifically, in the context of the special importance given by the Thessaloniki traffic department to the protection of all users of the road networks (pedestrians and drivers), to the observance of the Road Traffic Code and to the reduction of traffic accidents, the service’s traffic control crews carry out targeted police actions in the wider urban complex of Thessaloniki.

In this context, during the 48 hours until July 1, 2023, the police officers of the aforementioned traffic police services checked 696 vehicles and confirmed a total of 405 violations, of which 231 were for illegal parking, 60 for excessive speed, 25 for lack of muffler (exhaust) to reduce noise, nine for careless driving, five for dangerous manoeuvres, one for causing noise by using a sound system and 74 other offences.

The offending drivers were imposed the prescribed administrative penalties, while similar actions will continue in other areas of the prefecture, as pointed out in today’s relevant announcement by the Thessaloniki Traffic Directorate.
