The National Technical University of Athens participates as a key partner in the European University EULiST “European Universities linking Society and Technology”
With yesterday’s (3/7/023) announcement of the approval of funding from the EU, amounting to 14.3 million euros for the next four years, the National Technical University of Athens, in the context of its extroversion and internationalization strategy, participates as a key partner in European University EULiST “European Universities linking Society and Technology”.
NTUA already invested in 2020 in the strategic cooperation of ten European universities, where with selected actions and synergies, the conditions were created for a strong alliance of European Higher Education. European Universities are a new institution of European Higher Education, and concern alliances that intend to develop into the Universities of the future, strengthening the quality of Higher Education and its connection with Research, Innovation, and Society.
EULiST aims to address European and global challenges, such as the green and digital transition, by contributing to social and technological developments. The coordinator of the European University EULiST is Leibniz University Hannover (DE)and together with NTUA participate as Partner Universities Technical University of Vienna (AT), Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT (FI), Jönköping University (SE), Institut Mines-Télécom (FR), Brno University of Technology (CZ), Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (SK) , University Rey Juan Carlos (ES), University L’Aquila (IT). EULiST’s actions reflect the complementarity and multiculturalism of its members, activating established collaborations and developing new ones, covering the wider regions of Northern, Western, Central and Southern Europe, towards a European university community without borders, combined with outreach actions and the active participation of social partners.
The warm climate of cooperation between the partners was highlighted once again during the annual EULiST General Assembly which was hosted with great success by NTUA on June 25-27, 2023, at Zografou University of Technology. The EULiST General Assembly was attended by sixty-five representatives of the ten universities, and in particular their Chancellors and Vice-Chancellors, professors, management officials and students. At the same time, within the framework of the General Assembly, the NTUA organized the first innovative Intensive Mixed Mobility Program of the EULiST Alliance, entitled “Monitoring Clean Energy in the EULiST campuses”, in which twenty students from the EULiST Universities participated.
In the conclusions of the General Assembly, emphasis was placed on the need to integrate EULiST actions into the daily life of the Alliance Universities, the participation of students in all EULiST actions, the inclusion of sustainable development in everyday life, and the communication and transfer of innovation and technology to the social partners through education and research. Among the first actions that have been planned are the development of learning through challenge-based learning, new internship opportunities, joint research proposals in the areas of interest of the alliance, and the mapping of social partners with priority in the Municipalities and Regions.
The success of the funding proposal of the EULiST Alliance justifies the top vision of the NTUA and the serious effort of the multi-member working group of the NTUA, coordinated by Prof. Katerina Adam. The path it opens is a great invitation and opportunity for the Foundation, as well as for its partners in the Alliance.
