Fine of 55,000 euros on the company “SEFIVO STORE OE” who maintained the online store https://sefivo.store was imposed by the Ministry of Development.

According to a statement from the ministry, the control of the business dealing in electronic goods was carried out following consumer complaints and the fine was imposed for violations of consumer protection legislation.

In particular, the violations related to:

* Non-delivery of the products purchased by the consumers and non-return of the amounts paid to the consumers after the cancellation of the contract.

* Providing incorrect information to consumers about the availability and delivery time of products. The company, in breach of the provisions on distance shopping, invited consumers to buy products from its online store which appeared to be available, but was unable to deliver them.

Consumers are advised to be especially careful when making purchases from online stores where missing information (name, tax identification number, GEMI number, registered address) and contact information (landline phone number and e-mail) are found, as the lack of these information may is a strong indication of the existence of unfair commercial practices or instances of consumer deception.

As the ministry notes in its announcement, “consumers who detect similar phenomena of deceptive practices by e-commerce businesses are invited to submit their complaint on the kataggelies.mindev.gov.gr website”.

It is recalled that the publication of the trade name of violators of consumer legislation is provided for by the provisions of par. 5 of article 13a of Law 2251/1994.
