The plan for the fire seasonwith thousands of firefighters and vehicles and dozens of aerial Mesa throughout the Greek territory present today to the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.

The design includes dispersion of forces in all “dangerous” areas, with increased aerial means and machinery compared to 2022but also a greater number of human potential of various specialties.

In total, this year 14,040 firefighters, 3,654 vehicles and 89 aerial vehicles they will be called this year to deal with the fires that we have every year in Greek territoryespecially because of its effects climate change recent years.

The ministry’s plan begins with prevention actionswhich are considered pivotal for dealing with fires, as the goal is to avoid large events and their expansion. The prevention actions are the folowing:

-The Fire Department has been updated no. 20/2023 PREVENTION on the subject “Definition of preventive fire protection measures for plots of land and other uncovered areas located in areas within approved landscaping plans, within the boundaries of settlements without an approved landscaping plan, in areas located within a radius of 100m. from the boundaries of the above areas, as well as in out-of-plan stadiums with buildings”

-Strengthening mechanism through Prepositioning Programin which six (6) Countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Malta, France and Slovakia) participate for 2 months (July and August) with forces stationed in Ancient Olympia, Attica and Thessaloniki.

The human resources of the Fire Department consists of:

16,580 female and male firefighters make up the total strength of the PS in our country
