Today’s education lays the foundations for shaping the “tomorrow” of every society, whether it concerns a local or a national level. It is no coincidence that the most developed and robust economies of the planet see their universities figure in the highest positions in the relevant list of world rankings.

Recognizing this fact, Hellinikon Chrysos has included in the strategy of its Corporate Responsibility plan, a series of actions and social investments in educational programs and upgrading the education infrastructure, with the central aim of empowering the new generation of the Municipality of Aristotelis and the ultimate goal of creating a better future for everyone.

Upgrading the educational infrastructure

Understanding the importance of a learning environment that encourages learning and promotes educational excellence, the company actively participates in the implementation of an extensive program to upgrade the school building infrastructure of the Municipality of Aristotle.

Specifically, the program includes renovation of 10 school unitswith the expenditure from 2021 to date exceeding 227,000 euros, ensuring that students have access to modern facilities and media. In addition, in collaboration with DIKEDA Care, Hellinikon Chrysos co-financed with 52,000 euros the construction of a 2nd kindergarten in Ierissos, providing a solution to an urgent need of the local community.

At the same time, responding to the requests of the school boards, it covers on a permanent basis a series of logistical needs in the schools, with the most recent availability 37 computersworth 25,600 euros, which will equip the schools’ IT rooms for the new school year, and the construction and donation of 30 wooden tables worth 18,000 euros for the Municipality’s kindergartens.

In 2022, Hellinikos Chrysos proceeded to purchase and installation of coolers with drinking water filtration function and on 38 school units of the Municipality of Aristotleworth 35,300 euros, ensuring the sufficiency of clean and cool water for the young students, while also undertaking the maintenance and replacement of the filters, after the first 12 months of operation of the systems.

Giving access to modern education opportunities

For the last 5 years in collaboration with Eduact, the company has been successfully conducting the action “Little Scientists in the Municipality of Aristotle”the successful robotics & STEM program for young students in the area, enabling students to gain valuable skills and nurture their creativity as well as critical thinking. The total expenditure of the program, only for 2022, exceeded 95,000 euros.

At the same time, aiming to encourage academic performance, but also to ensure that students have the opportunity to receive a quality education and unlock their true potential, Hellinikon Chrysos invested more than 50,000 euros for providing one full scholarship for three years of study in the Anatolia College of Thessaloniki, to an excellent student from Arnaia, following a relevant competition held by the college itself, while through sponsorship actions, the company also supports the research work of Greek Universities and student groups.

Greek Gold’s investments for the new generation, against the economic data of the last five years, remove any kind of blockage of access to quality and modern education for the young students of the Municipality, enabling them to pursue their educational ambitions. At the same time, they constitute example of how the private sector can play an active role in shaping a brighter future for the young people of the communities in which it operates.
