The Ministry of Tourism announces her start of online application for admission in public Vocational Training Institutes IEK Tourism for the academic year 2023-2024.
Applications will be submitted exclusively through the special link on the website www.mintour.edu.gr, from Monday 17 July 2023 until Monday 11 September 2023.
The applications concern the coverage of 881 places in the eight public IEK Tourism which operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism in Anavysso Attica, Perea Thessaloniki, Heraklion Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Argos, Galaxidi and Alexandroupoli, in the following specialties: a) executive of hospitality units, b) culinary art technician – chef (chef), c) baker-pastry technician, d) management and economics executive in the tourism sector.
It is noted that the two new experimental tourism training specialties will operate for the second year in a row at the IEK Macedonia in Thessaloniki for a) hospitality business executives specializing in room management and b) travel and tourism business executives. With these two experimental specialties, the Ministry of Tourism aspires to put innovation at the core of tourism education, while for the educational, scientific and research support of the experimental specialties, the Association of Tourist Offices of Macedonia-Thrace (ETGMTH), the Hotel Chamber of Greece (XEE) and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB).
For the first year this year it will also operate in Corfuat IEK Tourism of the Ionian Islands, the new experimental especialty “Travel and tourism business executives”, after its successful first implementation at the IEK Tourism of Macedonia.
Right to apply in the public IEK Tourism they have all those who hold a General, Technical or Vocational High School diploma, regardless of age.
Candidates who completed a parallel computerized report, but did not succeed in being admitted to an IEK department, also retain the right to participate.
The distribution of positions and specializations per IEK Tourism, the terms and conditions of admission, as well as the scoring criteria for candidates are detailed in the attached admission announcement.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism responsible for Tourism Education Ms. Elena Rapti stated the following:
“We are starting the applications to the IEK under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Tourism, with 881 new training positions. In other words, these are studies for Tourism specialists. Tourism education is for us one of the main priorities for the development of a high level of professionalism of the employees and executives of Greek Tourism, as well as for the improvement of the Greek tourism product.
The new experimental specialties that we designed and implemented last year at IEK Tourism of Macedonia continue with great success for a second year, while we are launching an experimental specialty for the first year at IEK Ionian Islands.
We strengthen the work of the government for the upgrade of Public Tourism Education of the Ministry of Tourism and we are planning the next steps for its practical support, faithful to the commitments of the Minister of Tourism Mr. Olgas Kefalogiannis”.
