“We remind you that companion, working and productive animals need uninterrupted access to clean and cool water and a shaded place, protected from extreme weather conditions” it is noted.

The Special Secretariat for the Protection of Companion Animals highlights:

  • Place large bowls of water in a shady area for strays
  • Chaining dogs, permanently staying on balconies and roofs, is prohibited by law and is extremely dangerous in hot weather, it can even be fatal for your animal
  • Regularly refresh your pet’s bowls with fresh cool water
  • Do not walk your dog at lunchtime, prefer morning and evening hours
  • Do not leave any of your animals in the car, in a few minutes they can be at risk of heatstroke and end up dead
  • Horses are prohibited from working during the lunch hours of 12:00-17:00 and when the temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius in the shade
