To face 32 forest firesthe Fire Department was called in the last 24 hours from 6 pm yesterday, Tuesday, until the same time today.

Most were treated immediately, at their initial stage.

Local investigative offices, as well as Divisions of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.

It is recalled that, according to the updated Emergency Bulletin of Dangerous Weather Phenomena (EDEKF) issued today, Wednesday, July 12, 2023, by the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the extensive field of high pressure that covers the coasts of Africa and the western and central Mediterranean and is accompanied by of very warm air masses is gradually expanding east and causing heatwave conditions from today Wednesday (12-7-2023) until the beginning of next week. This heat wave receives the name CLEON and is included in the Dangerous Weather Phenomena with a duration of at least six days with warmer days on Friday (14-7-2023) and Saturday (15-7-2023).
