The operation of the COCO MAT ATHENS BC hotel is immediately suspended by the Attica tourist accommodation control service (Regional Tourism Service of Attica).

The decision of the service was taken after being informed by the Council of State advisor, regarding the no. 15/2023 minutes of the Tripartite Compliance Board, due to partial revocation of the building permit of the hotel (paragraph 8 of the above minutes of the Council).

“It is noted that for the case in question, the Ministry of Tourism had also acted in a timely manner in the past, investigating with a relevant document to the YDOM of the Municipality of Athens, whether the building permit of the accommodation in question had been revoked, as a result of its compliance with sub. No. 11/2022 meeting minutes of the Council of Ministers, but never received an answer” states the Ministry of Tourism in a statement.

As additionally noted in the announcement, with its document of 21/4/2023, the competent Attica Regional Tourism Service had sent the hotel a call to provide explanations, in order to investigate the reasons why there had been no change in the notification details tourist accommodation in the notify business information system, following the change in its building permit no. 15/2017, and the relevant explanations were given regarding its operation.

“It is clear that the competent services of the Ministry of Tourism had, from the first moment, immediately moved to investigate the legal operation of the hotel, as they are obliged to do based on the existing legislation” concludes the Ministry of Tourism in its announcement.
