Present at the supervision of last night’s work were the deputy regional governor of the Western Sector of Athens, Andreas Leotsakos and the mayor of Chaidari, Vangelis Diniakos
The new footbridge was installed shortly after midnight on Sunday (16/7) in Palataki Haidari and is expected to be handed over to citizens for use soon.
Present at the supervision of last night’s work were the deputy governor of the Western Sector of Athens, Andreas Leotsakos and the mayor of Chaidari, Vangelis Ndiniakos.
The new pedestrian bridge contributes to the maximum extent to the safe crossing of Athens Avenue, in the most central part of the city of Chaidari, where unfortunately many accidents have occurred from time to time with pedestrian victims.
It is recalled that this is the second pedestrian bridge to be placed on Athens Avenue, in the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Chaidari, as the handover of the pedestrian bridge at the junction of Athens and Kyprian Agonist Avenues, near Dafni, was preceded on May 19.
“The study for the construction of the pedestrian bridge was prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport between 2010-2012. Our opinion, both as the opposition, in 2014-2019 and as a municipal authority thereafter, was to definitely implement the project, with respect to the neighboring monument, the Palataki Tower”, comments the mayor of Chaidari Vangelis Diniakos and adds: “Any change of position of the bridge would mean the exclusion of the project. We managed to modify the design of the bridge, so that the final aesthetic result is better than the others that were built in the context of the same project in Attica”.
