“The fire that initially broke out last Monday in Kallithea Loutrakiou and then it spread to other areas as well”, the vice-governor of Corinth told the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency. Haris Vytiniotis.

Regarding the damages caused by the fire, Mr. Vytiniotis emphasized that “according to the first estimates, more than 15,000 acres, of which half are arable land and the other half forest land’.

Regarding the number of houses that have burned, he noted that “according to the first estimates, the burned houses appear to exceed 40, while there are also several other houses, which have suffered minor damage”. “The fire has also caused damage to infrastructure networks, i.e. electricity and water supply,” he added.

Also, as the deputy regional governor pointed out to APE-MPE, “they exist problems in the road networkbecause the increased temperatures, due to the fire, have caused damage to the asphalt”.

Meanwhile, according to the Municipality of Loutraki, “echelons of the Western Greece Natural Disaster Recovery Directorate will visit the affected areas today to carry out autopsies and for damage assessment in the affected buildings”.
