With 150 police officers and vehicles, ELAS is assisting in the desperate efforts being made in Rhodes to extinguish the ongoing fire.

According to the relevant announcement: “substantial assistance is provided to the firefighting forces, which act to extinguish the fires, through the application of emergency traffic regulations with – as the case may be – prohibitions, interruptions and traffic diversions, the preventive evacuation of areas, the release of people and animals, as well as the safeguarding of the physical integrity and property of the residents of affected areas.”

In particular, as pointed out by ELAS, police officers from OEPTA and OPKE are available, while today C130 departs for the island of Rhodes from Attica with police officers from the DIAS team.

At the same time, police officers and vehicles of the services of the First Dodecanese Police Directorate are continuously reinforced by services of neighboring Police Directorates as well as Directorates of the G.A.D.A.
