THE TUI has decided to cancel all trips to Rhodes until Tuesday, July 25, the rtl network reports. As he points out, the emergency services carried out “the largest evacuation operation ever carried out in Greece” on the tourist island of Rhodes where a fierce fire continues to rage today, Sunday, for the sixth consecutive day.

According to TUI, “the situation in the southern part of Rhodes remains particularly difficult today and we still have no picture of an improvement in the conditions in the area. Although the number of Belgian travelers in this area is quite limited, the situation affects many holidaymakers.’

TUI has decided to cancel all departures to Rhodes from today, Sunday until Tuesday, July 25, in order to guarantee everyone’s safety and to return to a more calm and controlled situation on the island.”

At the same time, the British low-cost company Jet2 announced that it was canceling all flights scheduled to leave for Rhodes today. However, the company’s aircraft will fly empty to the island in order to pick up any British travelers on the island.

The company said in a statement: “We have canceled all flights scheduled to depart for Rhodes today (five flights in total),” noting that “the company will contact its customers to inform them that they will be given the opportunity to get their money back or rebook.”

“We will fly these five aircraft to Rhodes without customers so that we can bring customers back to the UK on their scheduled flight,” the company adds.

Normally Ryanair flights

Ryanair has announced that its flights to and from Rhodes are operating as normal despite the fires.

“Ryanair flights to/from Rhodes Airport are currently operating as normal and unaffected by the forest fires,” Ryanair said in a statement issued via the company’s mobile app at 12:07 GMT.

The Irish airline has informed passengers departing from Rhodes Airport that it will accept temporary travel documents issued by the Greek Police and will notify passengers of any flight changes via its app.
