The arrests concern the illegal occupation of an area of the beach, without having permission from the competent Authority.
Eight people were arrested by the police in the coastal areas of Rio and western Achaia, who are accused of occupying a shared coastal area and beach.
Particularly, six people were arrested in the area of Rio that operated shops of health interest because, according to the police, after checks carried out, it was found that they had placed table seats, recliners, poufs and umbrellas on a case-by-case basis, illegally occupying an area of the beach, without having permission from the competent Authority.
Also, two more people were arrested in a coastal area of western Achaia which operated a health care store and a canteen, respectively, because, after an inspection carried out by a joint unit of the Land Service of the police and the port authority, it was established that the former arrested had placed sunbeds with umbrellas on a public part of the beach without a permit, while the second arrested had placed a wooden canopy on the beach without the required permit.
