The Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, participated in an extraordinary meeting held at the Attica Control Center ΔΕΔΔΗΕ (Attica Network Development and Operation Sector), for the planning and the measures that have been taken for the uninterrupted electricity supply of the country, in view of the peak of the bad weather “ELPIDA”. The meeting was also attended by the CEO of HEDNO, Tassos Manos, the Deputy CEO of the Network, Iraklis Menegatos and the heads of the Attica Regional Directorate.
In order to deal with any problems, in Attica all licenses have been revoked while all the regular and contract staff are on alert. In particular, 550 people and 140 vehicles and construction machinery are on standby in various areas of the Attica Region.
The fault repair crews have been strengthened and the collaborating crews are on full alert for any additional reinforcement of the HEDNO crews in the areas where the weather phenomena will be more intense.
In order to deal with possible problems on the islands, personnel, mechanical equipment and materials have been precautionarily transferred to the Sporades and Skyros, as well as to the island complex of Andros, Tinos and Kea, in case a curfew is imposed.
Also, personnel and support equipment from HEDNO units of the Macedonia-Thrace Directorate and the Peloponnese-Epirus Regional Directorate, as well as cooperating network construction contractors, moved to Chalkida and Elefsina, remaining on full alert.
As far as the Regional Directorate of Central Greece and Evia is concerned, heavy mechanical snow removal equipment has already been rented.
Finally, the full and smooth operation of the Troubleshooting Center has already been ensured, while HEDNO reminds the activation of the new free telephone line – from mobile and fixed – 800 400 4000 for the convenience of the citizens.
