Under draconian security measures, they were brought to the courts of Evelpidon on Friday the first 30 defendants in order to apologize before the three investigators for what they are accused of in the case of the brutal attack outside the AEK stadium, in New Philadelphia, on the evening of Monday, August 7.

The measures at the courts are strong, with two MAT squads inside the premises, while the accused were taken to the courts in two police cages.

The defendants’ apologies will be received by the 25th regular interrogator appointed for the main investigation and the 14th and 20th appointed as assistants in the work of their colleague.

Ten defendants will plead today before each investigator, while two public prosecutors have been appointed. Tomorrow, Saturday, August 12, another 30 defendants will appear before the judicial officials, while the last 45 will be excused on Sunday, August 13.

For the procedure, the head of the Court of First Instance, Christoforos Lino, has hired three interpreters in Croatian and one in English.

It is possible that some of the defendants to request a new deadline for their apology, as it seems that only yesterday they hired defense lawyers, who have not been informed about the case file. In any case, all defendants must have pleaded guilty by Sunday, when the five-day statutory detention period expires.

As it has become known, at 12.30 AEK fans have issued a call for a gathering at the courts of the former Evelpidon School.

The defensive line

The apologies of the accused (one of them is still in hospital under guard) expected to be marathons, as they will be completed by late Sunday evening.

Those involved in the incidents that are charged with multiple offenses in the degree of felony, but also misdemeanor, they will be interviewed in groups of 10 or 12 people, while for the fastest completion of the investigative process they have been appointed already by the head of the Court of First Instance of Athens Christoforos Lino, three investigators.

Apologies begin at noon on Friday at 12 and the decisions on the further criminal treatment of the accused are expected to be issued late in the evening as after the interrogation there will be a meeting of investigators and competent prosecutors.

Finding interpreters for the Croatian language was a problem for the investigative process until yesterday (mainly) as well the vast majority of the accused are Croats. Until late last night two of the three interpreters had been secured and efforts were being made to find a third.

Croats

Heavy indictment

The charges against all 105 are very serious with the most important one being manslaughter for the brutal murder of Michalis Katsouris. The investigative authorities have been trying since the first moment they took over to identify among the arrested, as they believe, the perpetrator of the savage killer. Findings collected at the scene, genetic material taken from the accused are already being examinedresearch cell phone conversations and other data such as footage from area cameras.

However, assigning specific criminal responsibilities for each of the defendants is an extremely difficult task that has already been shouldered by the investigative and prosecutorial authorities as any “sacking” everyone with all the charges will then lead to judicial impunity that may reach complete impunity. ..

The prosecutions that have been brought for a multitude of offenses for which the defendants are now apologizing are:

  • Homicide by intent (the perpetrator of the Katsouri murder has not yet been identified.
  • criminal organization (crime
  • manslaughter (felony)
  • explosion (felony)
  • possession of explosives (felony)
  • disturbing the peace
  • dangerous bodily harm, committed and attempted
  • deterioration of foreign property
  • violence (sporting law offence)
  • illegal carrying of weapons
  • weapon use
  • possession of flares.

Croats

Mouths closed

During the investigative process it is estimated that the accused, overwhelmingly Croats, they won’t talkas well as ELAS officers who conducted the preliminary investigation after the arrests, reported that the Croats they are cruel hooligansobserve the law of silence and most of them have criminal involvements in the past.

It also has complications, even serious ones one of the defendants of Greek nationalitywho despite the heavy criminal charges against him from time to time, nevertheless he was walking free.

However, according to estimates from investigative sources, the accused will remain silent until the forensic laboratories “speak”.as if they are identified for specific actions, their line of defense will naturally change

Croatian media, however, they reported to the defensive line which the arrested Croatian hooligans will follow during their today’s apologies to the investigators.

According to Croatian channel RTL, those arrested are expected to claim to be members of the Bad Blue Boys they don’t use knives in clashes with fans of other teams. According to the same sources, they will cite as an example the recent incidents in Milan during which a member of the Bad Blue Boys sustained stab wounds but no opposing team fans were injured by a sharp object.

This claim is indirectly supported by the official announcement of Bad Blue Boyswhich reported that 7 of the organized fans have stab wounds and one of them was stabbed 7 times.

Under the microscope 13 people

According to police sources, of the 105 accused in the murderous attack, 13 people have been put under the microscope of the authorities.

They are 9 Croats, one person from Albania who was found in possession of a folding knife and 3 Greeks.

The investigations into the case are being carried out under the supervision of the head of the Athens Appeals Prosecution, Maria Gane, who is in direct and constant communication with the First Instance prosecutors, in accordance with the order of the Supreme Court prosecutor Georgia Adelini.

One and a single stab wound was what cost the life of the 29-year-oldaccording to the forensic report, which confirms the initial findings of the doctors of the hospital, where the unfortunate man was taken.

“We did not hide the huge catastrophic failure, which is not consistent with the overall image of ELAS. Those responsible will be found, as was the case with Alkis, and they will be severely punished” the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance emphasized to SKAI Konstantinos Kyranakis. “Based on the evidence, the political leadership had not been informed» write down.
