Officers of the port authority proceeded to arrest an 83-year-old woman in Rhodes, who was giving her house to irregular immigrants for a monetary fee.
In a search of the 83-year-old’s home, eight foreigners were found who lacked legal documents, while three identity cards of dubious authenticity were located and confiscated.
In the context of the preliminary investigation carried out by the Central Port Authority of Rhodes, the 83-year-old woman was identified as the owner of the house where the foreigners lived, who paid the daily amount of twenty euros per person.
The Maritime Border Security and Protection Directorate, in collaboration with the Port Authority of Rhodes, analyzes and processes all the data collected so far and investigates all further possibilities.
In the meantime, officers of the port police proceeded to the arrest of 25 immigrants at the port of Akadia Rhodes, before the departure of the passenger ship.
Those arrested were found to lack legal documents, while a further check of their luggage revealed a total of eighteen travel documents of questionable authenticity.
