The active fronts have been reduced to two, according to SKAI reporter Christos Nikolaidis. One in Loutro and the second in Amphitriti and Apalo. Strong winds are the “big adversary” for firefighting, as a gentle “touch” of the wind is capable of rekindling and getting a new front.
New messages from 112 were sent earlier to the residents of the Monastiraki, Doriskos areas to move away to Feres. Also, a message was sent to the residents of the Amfitritis and Maistro settlements to move away towards Alexandroupoli.

Speaking earlier to SKAI 100.3, the representative of the Fire Department John Baker reported that strong winds of 6 to 7 Beaufort are blowing in the area and pushing the fronts of the fire towards the sea.
He emphasized that the greatest concern exists for the Amphitrite and Maistro fronts.
According to Mr. Artopioros, a great resurgence is also taking place on the southern front of the settlement of Nipsa, where the traffic in Egnatia was interrupted again due to the dense smoke.
Previously, a message was sent from 112 to the residents of Alexandroupoli to stay indoors with closed windows and doors due to the smoke of the large fire.
The message reads: “Alexandroupoli, a forest fire is developing, smoke is moving towards your area. Stay indoors, close windows and doors.”
