The perpetrator of the attempted murder arrived in court accompanied by OPKE armored men – What his lawyer said
Under draconian security measures escorted by OPKE and Heraklion Security, the 22-year-old from Messara who shot 29-year-old Nikos in the head was taken to the Courthouse early on Thursday morning.
The 22-year-old, who surrendered to the authorities at noon on Wednesday, was brought before the Prosecutor of Heraklion for his statement, however he asked for and received a deadline in order to prepare for 12 noon next Monday August 28th.
It is reminded that the young man is charged with attempted murder at the expense of the 29-year-old who is still hospitalized.
Security measures around the Court were particularly high, while the father of the 29-year-old injured person was all alone outside the courthouse from dawn asking to know details about the process.
Gun handed over – ‘He was crying and apologizing’ says young man’s lawyer
In his statements at the Courthouse, the 22-year-old’s lawyer clarified that thethe young man’s gun is now in the hands of the authorities as he indicated the spot where he threw it away in a state of panic after the shooting of 29-year-old Nikos near the KTEO Timpakiou.
Among other things, he emphasized that the accused will exercise his rights and pointed out that throughout the short procedure before the Heraklion Investigator she cried and apologized.
He also noted that all the videos available in the case will be examined very carefully as – as he said – in one of them there is a “struggle before the shooting”. Everything, however, he underlined, will be done with respect to the 29-year-old injured, as what is important is the improvement of his health.
