12,500 members of the Armed Forces are directly or indirectly involved in fire prevention and extinguishing operations
With the massive involvement of the Armed Forces efforts to prevent and extinguish the fires that have been affecting the country for the last few days are being strengthened.
It is worth noting that on the active fronts throughout the territory acted, and continue to act, CL-215 firefighting aircraft, CL-415 firefighting aircraft, PZL firefighting aircraft and CHINOOK helicopters.
Teams of the “XENOKRATES” Plan, Teams of the DEFKALION Plan, Earth Movers, Graders and Loaders have also been allocated for the creation of fire zones, water- and tank-carrying Vehicles as well as general use.
It is emphasized that more than 12,500 members of the Armed Forces are involved in fire prevention and extinguishing operations throughout the territory, as emphasized by GEETHA. (s.b. the number refers to the participation of the personnel in any way in the operations in question, e.g., among others, surveillance patrols from 5-10 km in all the military installations in the territory, the technical personnel for the maintenance of aircraft and helicopters, the machinery staff, etc.).
