On the Leptokarya fire front, firefighting forces including three army earth movers and a loader are being deployed to stop the fire’s progress towards the northern forest complex.
The flames are burning oak forest but with the fire front moving against the wind. This particular one is one of the last active fronts of the fires in Evros with the other two located in Dadia and Treis Vryses.
On the last front, 30 loggers with the staff of the Alexandroupoli Forestry and fire brigade are trying to control the fire so that it does not pass to the Wildlife Refuge that exists there.
